In a strategic move to bolster digital security and trust, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SecDojo, a cybersecurity training platform. The agreement, sealed at GITEX Africa 2025 in Marrakech, Morocco, marks a significant step toward enhancing the nation’s resilience to cyber threats through focused capacity development.
Representing their organisations at the signing were NITDA’s Director General and SecDojo’s Chief Executive Officer. The partnership is set to deliver a range of initiatives, including the establishment of a Cybersecurity Academy, advanced training sessions, simulation exercises, tailored educational content, and a framework for research, professional development, and knowledge exchange.
The Director General emphasized the vital role of human capital in Nigeria’s digital future. He noted that cybersecurity skills are increasingly in demand globally and that Nigeria, with its large youth population, is uniquely positioned to contribute to filling this gap.
He advocated for embedding digital skills into Nigeria’s formal education system, stressing the need for a shift from short-term training initiatives to long-term curriculum integration. Drawing inspiration from Cisco’s model, where students earn both degrees and professional certifications, he called for a dual-track learning system that equips graduates for real-world relevance.
The NITDA chief also welcomed contributions from other technology providers, urging inclusive partnerships that align with Nigeria’s National Digital Literacy Framework. He invited more firms to offer open-source or customized content to expand access to digital education.
SecDojo’s CEO echoed this vision, reaffirming his company’s commitment to supporting cybersecurity growth. He expressed confidence in the collaboration and enthusiasm for the journey ahead, highlighting the importance of innovation and strategic alignment in building Nigeria’s cyber capacity.
This partnership marks another chapter in pursuit of a secure digital economy, placing emphasis not just on infrastructure, but on building a skilled, future-ready workforce.
