The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced its intention to review the guidelines for the registration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) service providers and contractors. The move is aimed at strengthening the ease of doing business and enhancing efficiency in the registration processes.
In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations at NITDA, Mrs. Hadiza Umar, the agency emphasized that the comprehensive review is necessary to streamline the process for delivering IT services to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the government. The guidelines, initially issued in 2018, outline the registration process for indigenous IT service providers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality IT projects to the federal government.
The agency highlighted the need to improve efficiency in the registration process to promote indigenous IT service provision and engage competent vendors for IT service delivery to government entities. The review aligns with the administration’s goal of ensuring collective prosperity through efficiency and innovation. NITDA aims to collaborate with stakeholders to amend the guidelines, creating opportunities for Nigerian companies to provide more digital services.
The statement concluded by expressing NITDA’s commitment to leveraging IT to enhance and simplify daily activities for Nigerians in their interactions with the government and other institutions.
