Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) is intensifying efforts to equip young Nigerians with practical skills through the recently expanded Human Capital Development (HCD) Basic Training Supplementary Programme under the Train 7 Project. The initiative is part of the company’s broader commitment to deepening Nigerian Content and strengthening local workforce capacity.
Speaking at the launch of the supplementary training programme, the company’s Manager of Nigerian Content Development emphasized that the expansion marks a significant milestone in NLNG’s drive to empower Nigerian youth with industry-relevant skills. His remarks were conveyed in a statement issued from Port Harcourt by the company’s Manager of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs.
He noted that the programme, developed in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), offers two major learning pathways—classroom-based theoretical instruction and hands-on practical training. Both components are designed to ensure participants gain not only technical knowledge but also real-world expertise applicable to the oil and gas sector.
The curriculum incorporates structured modules with set milestones, aimed at producing graduates who are not only technically proficient but also prepared for the demands of Nigeria’s dynamic energy industry. Beyond core training, the programme includes a suite of support services to foster personal and professional development. Participants will have access to healthcare through Reliance HMO, mentorship from industry veterans, counselling, wellness resources, and career guidance.
These measures, the company said, reflect its dedication to producing well-rounded professionals capable of thriving in challenging work environments. Trainees are encouraged to maximise the opportunities provided for their personal growth and to improve the lives of their families and communities.
Nigeria’s Train 7 Project aims to increase liquefied natural gas production capacity to 30 million tonnes per annum. The enhanced training initiative is one of several strategies being employed to ensure Nigerians are prepared to play a central role in this expansion.
