The National Universities Commission (NUC) has opened applications for various positions at its headquarters in Abuja, inviting suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for roles across officer, confidential secretary, and clerical or auxiliary staff cadres.
In a public notice, the Commission said interested candidates should submit their applications through the Careers Portal by visiting careers.nuc.edu.ng or nuc.edu.ng for detailed instructions. It added that the application process is free and will close six weeks from the date of the announcement. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted for the next phase of the recruitment exercise.
Positions under the officer cadre include Senior Officer (CONTISS 9), Trainee/Officer I (CONTISS 8), and Trainee Officer II (CONTISS 7). Applicants for the Senior Officer role are required to hold a Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to the NUC’s mandate or a Master’s degree with at least six years of post-qualification experience. Additional professional qualifications will be considered an advantage.
For the Trainee/Officer I position, candidates must possess a Master’s degree or a first degree with a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Applicants for the Trainee Officer II role must hold a first degree in a related field, with additional professional qualifications serving as an added advantage.
The Commission is also recruiting Confidential Secretary I (CONTISS 7), with applicants expected to have at least a Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies and a minimum of three years of post-qualification cognate experience.
Under the clerical and auxiliary staff cadre, the NUC announced vacancies for positions such as Assistant Cameraman, Data Processing Assistant, Artisan/Craftsman (including carpenter, plumber, electrician, and air-conditioning mechanic), Lift Operator, and Motor Driver/Mechanic.
The minimum requirements for these positions range from a First School Leaving Certificate to an O’Level Certificate, National Diploma, or relevant trade certifications, depending on the role. Technical training and relevant experience will be considered an added advantage across all categories.
