OPay Emerges as the Only Fintech Winner at Vanguard Awards; Bags Most Innovative Fintech Award
Share

OPay, one of Nigeria’s top financial technology companies, has been honoured as the Most Innovative Fintech of the Year by Vanguard Newspapers. The award, presented during a high-profile ceremony at Eko Hotel and Suites on Friday, 11th April 2025, marks a significant milestone in OPay’s drive to expand financial inclusion and enhance digital security across the country.

As the sole fintech firm recognized at the event, OPay’s win underscores its pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s digital finance landscape. The company’s introduction of innovative tools such as the Large Transaction Shield for added security and NightGuard, which limits account access during vulnerable night hours, has strengthened its reputation as a trailblazer in fintech innovation.

OPay’s recent surge in popularity has been amplified by widespread praise from users across social media. Customers continue to highlight the platform’s user-centric features, including pre-transfer network status alerts, double-verification to reduce transaction errors, facial recognition for added authentication, lightning-speed transfers, and prompt customer support within the app.

Reacting to the award, the company’s Chief Commercial Officer, said the recognition reaffirms OPay’s mission to build a secure and inclusive financial system for Nigerians. She dedicated the award to the company’s growing customer base, noting that their trust and feedback drive the team’s continuous improvement.

Established in 2018, OPay has grown into one of Nigeria’s most trusted financial service providers. With offerings ranging from money transfers to bill payments, airtime and data purchases, and merchant transactions, the company has become a staple in the country’s digital economy. Licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and insured by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, OPay continues to lead with reliability, speed, and a commitment to innovation.

This recognition further solidifies its leadership as a driving force in the evolution of Africa’s digital payment ecosystem
