OPay Empowers SMEs with Security Vote Challenge to Boost Safe Digital Transactions
Share

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria are set to benefit from a new campaign launched by OPay, Nigeria’s leading mobile financial services platform, aimed at strengthening digital safety and building financial confidence among business owners and everyday users.

The initiative, called the “My OPay Security Vote Challenge,” officially kicked off in the first week of August 2025. It is designed to educate customers, especially SMEs who rely heavily on digital transactions, about OPay’s seven in-app security features. These features include Scam Alert, Night Guard, Large Transaction Shield, Online Subscription Control, USSD Lock, Large Transaction Double Check, and Emergency Lock.

The campaign takes a creative, interactive approach by encouraging participants to create 30-second videos highlighting their favourite OPay security feature and explaining how it helps protect their money. Videos are to be posted with the hashtag #MyOPaySecurityVoteChallenge and must tag OPay’s official social media accounts to qualify.

OPay’s Chief Commercial Officer explained that the campaign is about making financial safety both exciting and rewarding. By educating users in a fun way, the platform hopes to instill confidence among Nigerians, particularly SMEs that face increasing risks of fraud and scams in today’s fast-paced digital economy.

For SMEs that conduct high volumes of transactions daily, features like Large Transaction Shield and Emergency Lock are particularly relevant, as they offer an extra layer of protection against unauthorized activities. Similarly, tools such as Scam Alert and Online Subscription Control help small businesses prevent financial leaks and fraud attempts that could undermine their operations.

Beyond online engagement, OPay is also extending the campaign to physical community activations to ensure that the message reaches diverse groups across Nigeria, including entrepreneurs in rural and urban business hubs. Through its app ecosystem, OPay will provide real-time updates and interactive channels to further drive participation.

During the campaign, more than 2,000 Nigerians will be celebrated, with participants sharing in over ten million naira in weekly rewards, in addition to exclusive OPay-branded merchandise. This makes it one of the largest digital safety awareness programmes launched in the country this year.

The initiative highlights OPay’s broader goal of strengthening Nigeria’s digital economy by safeguarding the financial activities of individuals and SMEs alike. By encouraging the active use of its in-app security features, OPay hopes to build a more resilient financial ecosystem where businesses can thrive with reduced risks of fraud and digital threats.

With the “My OPay Security Vote Challenge,” OPay is not only rewarding creativity but also equipping SMEs with the tools and knowledge to transact securely, underscoring the role of digital safety as a key enabler of sustainable business growth.
