Opay Empowers Users with New Feature to Manage Recurring Payments
Share

Opay has launched a new feature called the Card Control feature, designed to give users greater control over recurring payments linked to their subscriptions. The feature allows users to view, pause, or completely stop automatic deductions by various merchants—without deactivating their virtual cards.

With the growing number of digital services now charging users through recurring payments, Opay says the new tool offers a much-needed solution to unexpected or unwanted deductions. Accessible through the “Cards” section of the app under “Manage Online Merchant,” the tool provides a smart dashboard showing all active subscriptions connected to a user’s card.

From this dashboard, users can pause specific merchants such as streaming services, cable subscriptions, loan apps, or cloud storage services. Once paused, these services will no longer deduct funds until the user manually reactivates them.

A user on X,  praised the feature, saying it gives them the ability to block certain merchants after a transaction until they’re ready to renew—eliminating surprise renewals and improving financial control.

Opay emphasized that with users spending across multiple digital platforms today, the feature is more than a payment tool—it’s a way to help users take charge of their financial habits.

“Opay isn’t just offering a tool; it’s offering peace of mind,” the company stated. “Where automation makes spending easier, Opay is ensuring that users remain in full control—owning every naira, every charge, and every financial choice.”
