The Secretary of the Osun State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, announced significant empowerment initiatives for the residents of Osogbo Local Government on Tuesday. The program, part of the Imole Bibiire Empowerment scheme, includes financial grants, skill development, and community infrastructure enhancements aimed at improving the quality of life and economic prospects for local residents.

 Key Highlights of the Initiative

Cooperative Grants:

   – Each ward in Osogbo Local Government received a cheque of N15 million to support cooperative activities.

Point of Sales (POS) Machines:

   – Distribution of 45 POS machines with startup cash of N25,000 to local entrepreneurs to facilitate digital transactions and enhance business operations.

Skill Development and Certification:

   – 37 individuals trained in make-up, gele, manicure, and pedicure received certificates and equipment to start their own businesses.

Infrastructure Projects:

   – Completion of a hand pump borehole in Ward 10.

   – Installation of a motorized borehole in Ward 8.

   – Construction of a public toilet in Ward 7.

   – Registration of 500 elderly individuals in the Osun health insurance scheme.

Vision and Commitment

Igbalaye emphasized the importance of tangible investments in community development, stating, “These initiatives underscore our unwavering commitment to holistic community development. We believe that true empowerment transcends mere rhetoric; it requires tangible investments in people’s lives and livelihoods. By supporting entrepreneurship, improving access to clean water, and enhancing healthcare access, we are laying the groundwork for sustainable change and inclusive growth across Osogbo Local Government.”

 Future Plans

The Imole Bibiire Empowerment program aims to continue these initiatives every four months to ensure consistent support and development at the grassroots level. This recurring schedule is intended to ensure that the dividends of democracy are regularly reaching the people.

Beneficiaries’ Feedback

Agboola Dare, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude for the comprehensive support provided. He highlighted how the empowerment scheme, particularly the training in make-up artistry, manicures, and pedicures, would significantly impact their livelihoods. Dare appreciated the SSG for not only sponsoring the training but also providing the necessary tools and startup grants.

The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including the deputy governor, the speaker and deputy speaker of the house of assembly, Yeye Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, and the PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, among others.

This comprehensive empowerment program by the Osun State Government represents a strategic effort to foster entrepreneurship, improve living standards, and ensure sustainable community development. By addressing both economic and infrastructural needs, the initiative aims to create a more prosperous and self-sufficient Osogbo Local Government.
