The Oyakhilome Bello Foundation (OBF) has announced its intention to form a strategic alliance with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) to organize entrepreneurship development training programs for Nigerian youths. This was disclosed by the foundation’s National Coordinator, Olaniyin Ilori, following a meeting with UNIDO officials in Abuja.
Ilori emphasized the importance of supporting entrepreneurs, particularly Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), as they significantly contribute to the national economy. He revealed that the proposed training would be conducted across the country’s six geopolitical zones, with UNIDO expressing enthusiasm for the foundation’s training proposal and willingness to collaborate.
The primary focus of the OBF, led by Oyakhilome Bello, the All Progressives Congress (APC) United States National Youth Leader, is grassroots empowerment, especially in hard-to-reach communities. The foundation aims to equip individuals with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic growth.
Through entrepreneurship initiatives, vocational training, and economic empowerment efforts, the foundation seeks to uplift vulnerable populations, promote entrepreneurship among youths and women, and provide mentorship programs and educational support.
Ilori highlighted that the training targets entrepreneurs involved in Nano, Small, and Medium Enterprises to enhance their skills and position them for economic growth. He emphasized the foundation’s commitment to society’s betterment, focusing on wealth creation for youths, women, and the less privileged.
Additionally, the foundation plans to collaborate with the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment on entrepreneurship development training.
The UNIDO team, led by Mr. Osu Otu, expressed satisfaction with the foundation’s training proposal and pledged to collaborate. Other members of the UNIDO team present at the meeting include Mr. Reuben Bamidele and Ms. Emem Umana.
