The Oyo State Government has entered a strategic partnership with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) to educate members on proper haulage fee payments and strengthen support for small-scale manufacturers across the state.
The initiative, driven by the Ministry for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives, and Industry, was announced during an official visit to MAN’s Secretariat in Jericho, Ibadan. Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary, Olajide Okesade, said the collaboration aims to promote sustainable industrial growth and ensure fairness in revenue collection from manufacturers.
He highlighted recent infrastructure upgrades—including road improvements and ongoing expansion work at the Ibadan Airport—as critical steps to make the state more attractive to investors and manufacturers alike.
The commissioner also reaffirmed Oyo’s commitment to supporting small-scale industries, citing examples like the Gari Oyo and turmeric processing projects being developed for export. He invited MAN’s cooperation in identifying qualified producers who can meet export standards, especially as the state works closely with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) to scale up global visibility for local products.
Adebisi assured manufacturers of the government’s commitment to fair and transparent tax policies and called for stronger data sharing from MAN to enhance government–industry collaboration and policy implementation.
Responding on behalf of the association, MAN representative Sebastine Shuiabu commended the state’s industrial efforts, while Executive Secretary Nanzing Rimdan expressed MAN’s readiness to work with the government to resolve issues related to infrastructure, financing, and regulatory challenges.
The partnership marks a renewed push to strengthen the manufacturing ecosystem in Oyo State by empowering micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and creating a more enabling environment for industrial growth.
