Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has taken a significant step towards revitalizing the state’s economy by resuscitating the staging of an international trade fair, 15 years after the last one was held. This announcement was made by the state Commissioner for Trade, Investment, Industry, and Co-operatives, Hon. Ademola Ojo, during a press conference held in Ibadan.
The trade fair, tagged EXPOYO 2024, is scheduled to commence on February 23 and conclude on March 6 at the Permanent Trade Fair Complex ground, Sango-UI Road, Ibadan. Organized by the state government in partnership with the Oyo State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (OYCCIMA), the event will be officially declared open by Governor Makinde on February 27.
Hon. Ademola Ojo expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for granting approval for the trade fair, emphasizing the importance of showcasing Oyo State’s potential to both local and international audiences. He highlighted the administration’s sustainable development agenda and the aim to attract developers and investors to the state’s economy.
Dr. Daniel Gbadero, President of OYCCIMA, revealed that exhibitors from Oyo State and across Nigeria, as well as foreign investors, are expected to participate in the exhibition. Additionally, Chief Wole Akinwande, President of Odu’a Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (ODUACIMA), assured support from the national body of NACCIMA to ensure the success of the trade fair.
Adeniran Adewoyin, Chairman of the Organising Committee, affirmed that all arrangements have been concluded for the event to be a success. With the participation of local and international exhibitors, EXPOYO 2024 holds promise for stimulating economic growth and attracting investments to Oyo State.
