The Peace In South-East Project (PISE-P) takes a significant step towards fostering peace and development in the region by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT). This partnership aims to establish Community Enterprise Digital Hubs across the five states of the South-East.
Initiated by Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, PISE-P focuses on addressing socio-economic challenges in the South-East through non-kinetic means. The collaboration with NIGCOMSAT underscores the urgency to bridge the digital divide, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
Delivering the keynote address at the MoU signing, Deputy Speaker Kalu emphasizes the importance of leveraging NIGCOMSAT’s satellite technology to provide reliable connectivity and essential services like telemedicine, education, and financial solutions. This initiative seeks to promote inclusion, reduce disparities, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents in the South-East.
Kalu highlights the alignment of PISE-P with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to achieve job creation and digital empowerment. He calls on government agencies, NGOs, and individuals to support and partner with PISE-P in its mission to promote employment, development, reconciliation, and peace in the region
The Deputy Speaker urges other agencies to emulate NIGCOMSAT’s initiative and actively contribute to filling the gaps in various sectors such as agriculture, education, and the environment. He emphasizes the importance of restoring the dignity and pride of the South-East region through collective efforts and partnerships..
