The Pistis Foundation has launched UBOMI 8.0, a major medical and surgical outreach aimed at empowering underserved communities in Lagos State with free healthcare services. Scheduled from October 27 to 31, the initiative will provide over 10,000 medical interventions, including consultations, health screenings, surgeries, dental and eye care, maternal health support, and community health education.
UBOMI, the flagship social intervention platform of The Elevation Church, has over the years become a lifeline for residents in low-income areas who struggle to access affordable healthcare. The initiative underscores the Foundation’s focus on empowering communities by combining medical support with education on preventive health and wellness.
In September 2025, the Foundation extended its outreach to correctional facilities, offering medical care to more than 1,350 inmates at Kirikiri Correctional Centres, including maximum, medium, and female facilities. Volunteers provided consultations, medications, and hygiene supplies, many recipients receiving care for the first time in years.
Leonard F. Thomas, Executive Director of the Pistis Foundation, said UBOMI seeks to restore dignity and hope by making healthcare accessible to those most in need. “UBOMI is not just healthcare; it is hope delivered one patient, one community, one heartbeat at a time,” he said.
The Foundation is calling for partnerships with NGOs, corporate organisations, healthcare providers, and development agencies to help expand the reach of UBOMI 8.0. By doing so, it aims to strengthen community resilience, improve health outcomes, and create opportunities for local economic participation through a healthier population.
UBOMI 8.0 demonstrates how social initiatives can empower communities, ensuring that access to healthcare supports broader goals of human capital development and inclusive growth key concerns for Nigeria’s MSME ecosystem.
