Polaris Bank, in partnership with Amtis Skills Place, celebrated Nigerian creativity and innovation through the 2024 Amtis Fashion Competition, awarding over ₦1 million in prizes to outstanding fashion designers. The competition, which ran from October 21 to November 29, provided a platform for young designers to showcase their talent and gain recognition in the industry.

The event featured a rigorous two-stage process, beginning with a preliminary round judged by fashion experts Awosusi Damilola of Edyne and Emmanuella Mene Josiah of Ellanel Couture. The finalists advanced to a grand finale, where they were challenged to create a Bridgerton-style dress inspired by regency-era fashion. Their stunning creations captivated the final judges, Atinuke Adelakun of Patterns and Stitches and Kolawole Ebunoluwa of LizBun Apparels, who were impressed by the contestants’ creativity and craftsmanship.

At the finale, Wuraola Roberts emerged as the grand prize winner, taking home ₦500,000. Nwafor Mary-Cynthia secured the first runner-up position with ₦300,000, while Okuniyi Mistura claimed the second runner-up prize of ₦200,000. Other contestants were acknowledged with consolation prizes for their remarkable efforts.

Polaris Bank representatives, including Head of Branding Marketing, Mr. Gbenga Owootomo, and Business Development Manager, Mrs. Titi Busari, graced the event, emphasizing the bank’s commitment to nurturing creative talent and supporting small businesses. Owootomo stated that the competition reflects Polaris Bank’s dedication to fostering innovation and economic growth in Nigeria.

Director of Amtis Skills Place, Mrs. Adebusola Omotunde, praised the participants for their hard work and creativity, highlighting the importance of initiatives that empower young talents. The competition showcased a vibrant blend of traditional and modern styles, reaffirming the organizers’ commitment to nurturing Nigeria’s creative economy and positioning its designers for global success.
