Remedial Health Launches All-in-One App to Empower Africa’s Pharmacies in Africa
Share

Remedial Health, a pioneering health tech startup focused on improving Africa’s pharmaceutical value chain, has unveiled an updated version of its customer-facing app. This app is designed to serve as an operating system for neighborhood pharmacies and Proprietary Patent Medicine Vendors (PPMVs) across the continent, providing tailored solutions to streamline their operations.

The new app boasts several innovative features, including a digital POS terminal for payment collection, virtual business accounts for receiving payments, an in-built barcode scanner for recording product sales, and store-switch functionality for managing multiple stores seamlessly. Additionally, it offers inventory management solutions for restocking and identifying short-dated products, along with comprehensive financial reporting and data analytics for informed decision-making.

Despite representing 85% of retail medicines sold in Africa’s pharmaceutical industry, neighbourhood pharmacies and PPMVs face challenges in managing their unique sales and inventory needs due to the absence of bespoke digital tools. This gap hampers their ability to operate efficiently and profitably.

Remedial Health’s new app addresses these challenges by providing tailored features designed to support effective decision-making, drive business growth, and enhance profitability for healthcare businesses across Africa.

Starting in Nigeria, healthcare businesses can access vetted medicines and manage their sales and inventory on a single platform, simplifying operations and enabling them to better serve their customers and communities.

Moreover, the app enables Remedial Health to provide real-time data on market behavior to manufacturers, facilitating increased profitability and informed decision-making across the pharmaceutical value chain.

According to Samuel Okwuada, CEO, and co-founder of Remedial Health, the mission is to empower frontline healthcare providers with the tools they need to manage their operations effectively and profitably. Customer feedback has been positive, highlighting the potential impact of the app on pharmacies and PPMVs nationwide.

In 2023, Remedial Health achieved significant milestones, selling over 300 million individual packs of medicines to various healthcare facilities across Nigeria. Customers experienced a 30% improvement in profits on average, with access to over 8,000 vetted products at competitive prices. The app also offers same-day delivery and inventory financing to minimize cash-flow friction and maximize sales opportunities for routine orders.
