The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Program has reached a milestone as the second set of training materials has been made available to candidates. Those enrolled in the program are encouraged to check their dashboards and proceed with their curriculum. Additionally, trainers have been assigned to candidates, marking a significant step in the ongoing training initiative.
The 3MTT Program, a key component of the Renewed Hope agenda, aims to build Nigeria’s technical talent base to drive the digital economy and position the country as a net talent exporter. The initiative, executed in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), involves multiple stakeholders, including fellows, training providers, partners, and placement organizations.
The training program is structured into three phases. The initial phase selected 30,000 individuals, with the second phase, comprising 300,000 participants, scheduled to commence in February 2024. The third and final phase is expected to encompass the remaining 3 million individuals, creating a substantial pool of skilled technical talent in Nigeria.
Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, emphasized the significance of the 3MTT program in achieving the Renewed Hope agenda. The program covers a diverse range of ICT skills, including Digital Marketing, Software Development, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Data Science, Animation, AI/Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Game Development, and Cloud Computing.
The 3MTT initiative is open to all Nigerians above 18 years of age who are interested in acquiring lifelong skills. It selects individuals with an interest in specific skills and funds their training under various participating training providers. The program is free of charge for fellows and training providers.
Upon successful completion of the 3MTT program, participants receive a certificate of completion and assistance in securing employment with companies seeking their skills. The program aims to address the skills gap in the digital landscape and empower individuals for meaningful contributions to Nigeria’s evolving economy.
