Senator Salisu has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting women-led micro-enterprises, commending their financial discipline and strong potential for growth. He noted that many female entrepreneurs are set to receive more support due to their responsible use of resources and consistent efforts to grow their businesses.
“We’re not just handing out money; we’re creating a clear pathway for micro-businesses to scale and integrate into a more inclusive economy,” Salisu stated, highlighting plans aimed at expanding economic opportunities for grassroots entrepreneurs.
Speaking on broader national issues, the senator revealed that the National Assembly is advancing fiscal reforms intended to cushion the economic difficulties faced by many Nigerians. He pointed to recent drops in the prices of staple foods and improved stability in the foreign exchange market as early signs of recovery.
Salisu also referenced the recently passed Tax Reform Bills, which are designed to lighten the tax burden on low-income earners while creating a more unified and streamlined tax system across all tiers of government. “These reforms ensure fairness , those earning more will pay more, while small earners benefit from relief. We’re also cutting red tape to make business easier,” he explained.
He emphasized the role of lawmakers in grassroots development and engagement, stating, “We’re the most accessible face of government. True representation means staying connected and responding to the people’s needs.”
Salisu’s remarks underscore a growing recognition of the critical role of small businesses—especially those led by women in driving inclusive economic growth, while also reflecting ongoing efforts by legislators to create a more equitable and business-friendly environment.
