Sierra Leone Gets First Digital Banking Super App
Share

A global banking technology company, Velmie, has partnered with Sierra Leone’s Metro Cable to launch Vult, the country’s first digital banking super app, now live and already gaining attention. Designed to promote financial inclusion, the app consolidates a wide range of financial services into a single, user-friendly platform.

With Vult, users can carry out mobile money transfers, card payments, bank account management, and bill payments all in one place. According to Velmie, it took just six months to move from concept to launch, thanks to the company’s API-first technology that allows for rapid deployment and flexibility.

The app’s arrival comes at a critical moment. Although mobile money has helped widen access to financial services across sub-Saharan Africa, a World Bank report highlights persistent gaps in financial usage linked to income levels, gender, age, and education. Vult aims to bridge this divide by offering accessible, comprehensive digital banking to all segments of the population.

Velmie’s CEO said the launch represents more than a technological achievement—it reflects a mission to create meaningful, inclusive financial impact. He emphasized that the collaboration with Metro Cable demonstrates how local partnerships can spark innovation and expand access to essential services.

The company’s chief marketing officer added that Africa remains one of the most dynamic regions for digital finance and that Vult offers a powerful foundation for financial empowerment in Sierra Leone.

Meanwhile, Vult’s head of product noted that the app’s flexible infrastructure allows it to evolve with the needs of Sierra Leoneans. She expressed pride in delivering global-standard financial tools to the country and affirmed that this is just the beginning.
