The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has reiterated its commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs as 100 Nigerians successfully completed bag-making training at Lelook Bag Academy.
The program, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nigeria, is designed to equip participants with essential skills to start and grow their businesses. By focusing on craftsmanship and entrepreneurship, the initiative prepares young Nigerians to tap into emerging opportunities, including the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which connects 1.3 billion people and boasts a combined GDP of over $3.4 trillion.
SMEDAN’s Director-General, Charles Odii, shared the update on the agency’s official X handle, applauding the initiative for fostering self-reliance and strengthening Nigeria’s small business sector. The agency also recognized the efforts of Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa, founder of Lelook Bag Academy, for her dedication to skill development and job creation.
This initiative aligns with SMEDAN’s broader mission of supporting small businesses through training, funding opportunities, and market access facilitation. By promoting vocational skills, the agency aims to reduce unemployment, create sustainable enterprises, and position Nigerian entrepreneurs for both local and international trade.
Beyond bag-making, SMEDAN reaffirmed its commitment to backing similar initiatives that drive economic growth, enhance local production, and expand Nigeria’s presence in global markets. As more programs emerge, the agency remains focused on fostering a business-friendly environment where young entrepreneurs can thrive, generate employment, and contribute to national development.
