In a move to enhance the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) provided 40 entrepreneurs with essential ICT skills and brand-new laptops. This initiative aims to equip businesses with the digital tools needed to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.
Dr. Olawale Fasanya, the Director-General of SMEDAN, handed over the laptops to the beneficiaries at the conclusion of a three-day intensive training program focused on ICT and digital skills. The objective was clear: to empower these entrepreneurs with the knowledge and resources required to expand their businesses online.
Fasanya underscored the pivotal role of ICT in modern business operations. He emphasized that ICT provides the tools and systems necessary for effective communication, data management, analysis, and decision-making. This, in turn, boosts productivity, enhances customer engagement, and gives entrepreneurs a valuable edge in the market.
He highlighted the immense potential enabled by these tools, allowing entrepreneurs to conduct business globally without the need for a physical storefront. Empowerment through digital means opens doors for a myriad of opportunities.
Fasanya urged the beneficiaries to make the most of these newfound skills and tools. He encouraged them to use them not only to strengthen their businesses but also to support their families and contribute to the growth of the Nigerian economy.
Assuring continued support, Fasanya promised that SMEDAN would stand by these entrepreneurs on their journey to business success. He emphasized that their progress would be closely monitored, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance and resources.
Additionally, Fasanya encouraged them to take advantage of the free digital courses available on the SMEDAN website, further enhancing their digital proficiency.
Earlier, Mrs. Mary Kolawole, the SMEDAN Manager for FCT, emphasized the vast opportunities that the digital space presents for businesses. She urged participants to explore this realm to improve their lives and businesses.
This initiative, replicated across all 36 states in Nigeria, marks a significant step towards enabling MSMEs to harness the power of digital technology for sustained growth and prosperity.
