SMEDAN, FIRS Launch Weekly MSME Business Clinic to Support Small Enterprises
Share

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), in collaboration with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has launched a weekly MSME Business Clinic aimed at providing practical support, tax guidance, and personalised consultations for small business owners. The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen Nigeria’s micro, small, and medium enterprise sector by improving compliance, operational efficiency, and business growth opportunities.

The clinic holds every Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., giving entrepreneurs direct access to specialists who can address a wide range of challenges. These include tax-related inquiries, proper documentation, registration processes, and operational bottlenecks that often hinder the growth of small businesses. By providing personalised advice and actionable solutions, the clinic is designed to help MSMEs navigate the complexities of business management more effectively and avoid common pitfalls that limit scalability.

To ensure inclusivity and wide reach, business owners can join the sessions virtually via the official link or by scanning the provided QR code, allowing entrepreneurs from across Nigeria to participate without the need for physical attendance. This digital access ensures that even those in remote areas can benefit from expert guidance, helping to level the playing field for MSMEs nationwide.

Organisers highlighted that the initiative is focused on reducing confusion around tax processes, promoting formalisation, and enhancing the overall business environment for micro and small enterprises. By encouraging compliance and providing practical tools for management, the clinic seeks to build a stronger, more resilient MSME sector that can contribute meaningfully to national economic growth.

Officials from SMEDAN and FIRS emphasised that the weekly clinic is not only about regulatory compliance but also about capacity building. Entrepreneurs attending the sessions are expected to gain insights into financial management, business planning, and growth strategies that can help them expand operations, attract investments, and create jobs. This initiative aligns with government efforts to support MSMEs as key drivers of economic development, ensuring that small businesses are better equipped to thrive in a competitive market.

With the clinic already generating positive responses from participants, both agencies plan to maintain a consistent schedule and continuously update content based on the evolving needs of small businesses. By combining expert guidance with practical, accessible solutions, the MSME Business Clinic represents a significant step toward empowering Nigeria’s small business community and fostering sustainable economic development across the country.
