Standard Insurance Consultants Limited (SICL), a top-tier insurance and reinsurance brokerage firm in Nigeria, has reaffirmed its commitment to the growth of the country’s insurance sector by donating N50 million to support the building project of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) in Lagos.
The announcement was made by the firm’s Chairman and Managing Director during SICL’s 45th anniversary celebration held in Lagos. The event brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), insurance companies, international partners, and industry players.
In his remarks, the chairman recounted SICL’s rise from a modest beginning in Ibadan, Oyo State, to a thriving business with its headquarters in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. Over the years, the company has built a client base across vital sectors such as oil and gas, aviation, marine, construction, hospitality, manufacturing, agriculture, and banking.
He highlighted SICL’s global partnerships and consistent growth, crediting the firm’s success to a culture of trust, credibility, and professionalism. Notably, the company sets itself apart through its practice of remitting client premiums immediately upon receipt, rather than waiting for the 30-day window permitted by NAICOM—a policy that has helped cement its position as one of the top three insurance brokers in the country.
As SICL looks to the future, the firm is prioritizing technology in its operations. Current digital transformation efforts include a digital claims administration process aimed at expediting claims resolution and the development of online platforms to simplify insurance access for clients.
“Digitalisation is now a core focus as technology is fast changing our industry. We are committed to bringing insurance services closer to the people,” the MD noted.
To further support industry advancement and community development, SICL unveiled several corporate social responsibility initiatives, including the NCRIB building donation and an endowment scheme for women in insurance. This endowment will be launched in partnership with the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) and the NCRIB.
With over four decades of consistent service, SICL continues to solidify its role as a key player in Nigeria’s insurance landscape, championing industry development and ethical practices.
