The Silicon Valley Nigeria Economic Development (SV-NED Inc. USA/SV-NED Energy Ltd) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have taken a bold step toward empowering Nigerian youth and boosting small businesses. Both organizations inaugurated a Project Implementation Committee (PIC) in Abuja to spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing skills development, SME growth, and job creation across Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, HRH Queen Mother Amb. Amina Temitope Labinjo Ajayi, Chairman of SV-NED, highlighted the partnership as a game-changer for Nigerian youth empowerment and economic development. She emphasized the critical role of young Nigerians in driving the nation’s economic transformation.
Key initiatives under this collaboration include establishing a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversion Centre and launching affordable housing projects. These initiatives aim to not only address the country’s housing deficit but also provide vital support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Additionally, NYSC corps members will benefit from skills training in entrepreneurship and the oil and gas sector, expanding their career opportunities beyond their primary assignments. This skills acquisition program is expected to equip the youth with tools to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic landscape.
A major highlight of the partnership is the construction of 10,112 housing units under the Renewed Hope Cities Programme. These units will help reduce Nigeria’s housing deficit while fostering economic growth by creating opportunities for SMEs in construction and related industries.
Stakeholders at the event expressed their commitment to ensuring this partnership becomes a model for sustainable economic development and youth empowerment in Nigeria. The collaboration is seen as a vital step toward addressing unemployment, housing challenges, and the growth of SMEs.
With such initiatives in motion, the partnership between SV-NED and NYSC holds the promise of a brighter future for Nigerian youth and the nation’s economy at large.
