The Alternative Bank Launches Quench Project to Combat Water Scarcity During Ramadan
Share

In a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing water scarcity and improving the quality of life in underserved communities, The Alternative Bank has introduced the Quench Project.

Timed to coincide with the month of Ramadan, the project aims to revolutionize access to clean and safe water by funding and constructing boreholes, thereby providing communities with essential water resources for drinking, sanitation, and agricultural purposes.

Hassan Yusuf, Managing Director of The Alternative Bank, emphasized the significance of water as a fundamental human right that remains elusive for many, particularly women and children. He stated, “The Quench Project reflects our commitment to altering this harsh reality, with our efforts commencing this Ramadan.”

Acknowledging the profound impact of water scarcity on health, education, and economic opportunities, Yusuf highlighted the project’s role in fostering life and prosperity in the most affected regions. He announced that The Alternative Bank would match every donation received, amplifying the collective impact of donors’ generosity.

Medinat Kareem, the Quench Project Coordinator at The Alternative Bank, underscored the project’s alignment with the values of Ramadan, emphasizing the desire to create meaningful and lasting change for communities.

Kareem outlined the process of selecting beneficiary communities, which involves a meticulous assessment based on an existing waitlist of communities expressing critical water needs. Communities are chosen based on the urgency of their requirements.

At its core, the Quench Project embodies the spirit of Ramadan, epitomizing values of generosity, empathy, and communal support as it strives to address the pressing issue of water scarcity and improve livelihoods in vulnerable communities.
