ThriveAgric, a prominent agricultural technology company, successfully concluded the inaugural ‘Abuja Tech Converge – TechXcelerate’ conference, a collaborative event with OCP Africa. The two-day conference gathered Nigeria’s tech innovators, policymakers, government officials, and ecosystem enablers, discussing challenges, innovations, and opportunities in regional technology.
The Peachvine Marquee in Abuja hosted the event, welcoming over 500 attendees. Industry experts led discussions on collaborative technology’s community impact, sustainable technology, and nurturing the next generation of innovators.
Insightful panels featuring influential figures like Akintunde Akinwande, Oluwatomi Ayorinde, and Cynthia E. Chisom highlighted the critical need for collaboration within the ecosystem.
Senator Isa Yuguda, in the opening keynote, stressed the importance of government investment in agriculture, emphasizing technology and infrastructure as crucial components to combat food insecurity.
ThriveAgric’s CEO, Uka Eje, expressed the conference’s mission to redefine agriculture as a viable economic sector, fostering inclusive collaboration among diverse groups, from rural and urban youth to technology enthusiasts and investors.
Additionally, ThriveAgric’s Tech-Talent Accelerated Programme (TAP) showcased its first set of graduating interns. This six-month intensive initiative aimed to upskill young tech enthusiasts in core technical areas and saw remarkable success, with several participants securing employment opportunities within and beyond ThriveAgric.
Moreover, the conference hosted a techathon sponsored by OCP Africa, awarding significant cash prizes to innovative healthcare, recruitment, and learning solutions developed by participating interns.
ThriveAgric’s Favour Eze highlighted TAP’s goal of addressing the demand for tech talent in Africa, transforming interns into skilled professionals, and bridging the skills gap in the tech industry.
The initiative aligns with addressing the growing youth unemployment rates and leveraging digital technology’s prominence in future job markets. ThriveAgric’s commitment to knowledge exchange, talent development, and industry collaboration aims to shape a sustainable economic future for Africa.
