The U.S. Mission in Nigeria is calling for qualified organizations to apply for a grant aimed at empowering low-income, talented Nigerian students to pursue higher education in the United States. This initiative, part of the 2025 EducationUSA Advising Program Funding Opportunity, highlights the U.S. commitment to promoting educational exchange between the two countries.
The grant will support the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program, which assists high-achieving students from underprivileged backgrounds. These students often have the potential to succeed in U.S. universities but face financial barriers, including the cost of application processes and standardized testing.
Partner organizations will collaborate closely with EducationUSA specialists in Abuja and Lagos to ensure the smooth operation of the program, which covers expenses like application fees, travel costs, and testing fees. The successful applicants will also contribute to the operation of Standard Advising Centers in Calabar, Jos, Ibadan, and Kano, which provide crucial guidance to students pursuing U.S. education.
While the program is open to organizations across Nigeria, those based in Abuja and Lagos are encouraged to apply due to their proximity to the U.S. Mission. The deadline for applications is January 27, 2025, at 11:59 PM WAT. Interested organizations can visit the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria’s website for more information on eligibility and the application process.
