The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has contributed N500 million to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) to bolster security efforts across the state, ensuring a safer environment for residents and businesses.

This significant donation was made through UBA Foundation, the bank’s corporate social responsibility arm, and presented to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the State House in Marina, Lagos, on Sunday.

UBA Group Chairman Tony Elumelu, accompanied by Deputy Managing Director Muyiwa Akinyemi, delivered the cheque to the governor. During the presentation, Elumelu underscored UBA’s dedication to enhancing societal well-being through improved security.

“At UBA, we understand that security is critical for economic growth and societal well-being. Our donation reflects our commitment to building safer communities and supporting environments conducive to investment and development,” Elumelu stated.

He highlighted UBA’s belief in the vital connection between safety and economic stability, adding, “A secure Lagos State is integral to a secure Nigeria. Through this partnership, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting initiatives that drive development and uplift lives.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude for UBA’s support, emphasizing its importance to the state’s security enhancement efforts.

“We are grateful to UBA Group for their significant contribution to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund. This donation strengthens our commitment to protecting citizens and building a safer Lagos for all,” the governor said.

This contribution aligns with UBA Foundation’s Special Projects initiative, which addresses pressing societal challenges through strategic partnerships and impactful interventions. The Foundation is dedicated to improving the socio-economic conditions of communities where UBA operates, focusing on areas such as education, security, and development.

The donation reinforces UBA’s role as a leader in corporate responsibility and its vision of fostering growth and stability across Nigeria.
