Visa Selects 19 Startups for Third Africa Fintech Accelerator
Share

Visa has announced 19 startups from across Africa to participate in the third edition of its Africa Fintech Accelerator, a program offering tools, mentorship, and industry connections to help scale innovative fintech solutions.

Launched in 2023, the initiative aligns with Visa’s commitment to invest $1 billion in Africa’s financial inclusion by 2027. The accelerator has already supported 45 startups across two cohorts, leading to 15 active partnerships. Four startups from the first cohort secured strategic funding from Visa.

The three-month program provides mentorship, technology credits, investor connections during demo day, and potential funding from Visa.

Startups by Country:

– Kenya: Credable (digital banking for businesses), Melanin Kapital (green loans and carbon credits), Umba (digital microfinance), Zendawa (pharmacy-focused finance and sales).

– South Africa: Block Markets Africa (asset tokenisation), Ordev (middleware for retail and hospitality), Sticitt (school payment solutions).

– Nigeria: Bumpa (digital commerce), Kredete (lending marketplace), NearPays (payment platform).

– Egypt: Enza (SME-focused payments), MoneyHash (payment API integration).

– Other Countries: Rwanda’s Fixa, Ethiopia’s Kacha, Algeria’s Moneco, Morocco’s WafR, Namibia’s Jabu, Cameroon’s PaySika, and Ghana’s WeWire.

This accelerator continues to highlight Visa’s commitment to fostering financial innovation across Africa.
