Youth Employment in Agri-business and Sustainable Agriculture (YEASA) Project is an International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) funded project. The partnering Institutions include Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) , AfricaRice and University of Abomey-Calavi, Benin Republic.

Attending the training is free and successful applicants will be trained in Agricultural Production, Value addition, Farm Equipment Fabrication/Modification, Agri-business development and Management.

The beneficiaries will have the opportunity to choose from a range of agricultural commodities such as moringa, soybean/cowpea, maize, plantain, mango, cassava, rice, and Aquaculture, also feed-mill and agric-machinery fabrication.

Successfully trained youths with excellent performance will be awarded certifications and start up grants.

This project therefore seeks to engage selected youth on a pilot basis to effectively transit from school to decent jobs by putting education to use where support will be provided to build skills for the youth in order to enhance their employment opportunities and draw lessons for scaling up. The project is premised on the scenario that young entrepreneurs would create their own businesses, employ others, gain experience, acquire marketable skills, and contribute to social cohesion of local communities.

The overall goal is to improve the livelihoods of rural youth through agriculture and agriculture-based enterprises. The objective is to train youth for enhanced technical, business, entrepreneurial, financial and life skills for increased incomes and creation of employment opportunities.

Direct and indirect target group of 1,000 unskilled and unemployed rural youth with at least secondary education in Nigeria (650) and the Republic of Benin (350) will be trained to acquire productive skills for gainful self-employment and employment in agro-industry. A minimum ratio of 45% women and 55% men.

Applicants should be aged 18-35 with a minimum of WAEC/SSCE Certificate.

    They only put Ekiti and Oyo in list of the state where is other states
