The Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalisation Empowerment Programme (YEIDEP) has entered its final phase, bringing renewed hope to thousands of young Nigerians. Designed to empower youth-led businesses and reduce unemployment, YEIDEP will soon disburse grants ranging from N50,000 to N500,000 to selected applicants across the country.
Union Bank has become the first financial institution to complete the collection of account details and begin BVN verification for shortlisted applicants. This step is critical, as only those with matching BVN and account information will receive their grant. Other banks, including Access Bank, Zenith Bank, UBA, and FirstBank, are still processing submissions.
Applicants are advised to ensure their BVN details—especially name and date of birth, match their application and bank records exactly. Discrepancies could delay or forfeit their payment.
Why BVN Checks Matter
The BVN check is central to the verification process, helping to eliminate fraud and ensure that only eligible youth benefit from the programme. A mismatch in BVN information—even a minor one can hold back disbursement.
Final Payment Phase Now Ongoing
YEIDEP officials have confirmed this as the concluding payment phase of the current cycle. Applicants who have submitted correct bank details and passed BVN verification are expected to begin receiving grants within weeks.
To remain eligible, applicants must:
- Ensure their BVN matches the information on their YEIDEP application
- Avoid submitting multiple entries
Follow updates only from verified YEIDEP sources
Union Bank has indicated that payments will commence as soon as BVN checks conclude. Other banks will follow suit upon completion of their own verifications. The first batch of recipients could begin receiving credit alerts ranging from N50,000 to N500,000 before the end of the month.
Grant amounts vary based on the business plan submitted. This is a non-repayable grant—not a loan—meant to support startups, micro-businesses, and youth-owned enterprises.
The programme targets:
- Young Nigerians with small businesses or business ideas
- Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)
- Applicants with clean BVN records and no duplication
- Youths residing in any of Nigeria’s 774 local government areas
YEIDEP is a Federal Ministry of Youth Development initiative, backed by the Senate, focused on youth empowerment and poverty
Successful applicants will be connected to a broader support system, including:
- Free business training
- Mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs
- Access to business tools and resources
- Opportunities for additional government-backed initiatives
Applicants are urged to remain vigilant. YEIDEP does not require any payment to process or release the grant. Any messages requesting money, OTPs, or card details are fraudulent. Only information from the official YEIDEP channels and designated banks should be trusted.
This is the last disbursement for the current YEIDEP cycle. However, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development has hinted at future rounds. Applicants who missed out are encouraged to stay informed through the official YEIDEP portal and be prepared for future opportunities.
YEIDEP continues to stand as one of the country’s most impactful youth-centered empowerment programmes, offering not just funding but long-term business support to transform the future of young Nigerians.
