A total of 235 accounting and finance professionals in Nigeria have been awarded the prestigious Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) at its 2025 convocation ceremony held in Lagos.
The globally recognised certification, which is accepted in more than 170 countries, equips professionals with strategic, financial, and leadership skills essential for navigating today’s complex business environment.
Speaking at the event, CIMA’s Vice President for Africa, Tariro Mutizwa, commended the new chartered professionals for their dedication and resilience. He emphasised that the CGMA qualification prepares them to address current and emerging business challenges, enabling them to add significant value to organisations and economies across the continent.
Country Director of CIMA Nigeria, Ijeoma Anadozie, congratulated the graduates, noting that the designation positions them as commercially astute and purpose-driven professionals who can drive sustainable business performance and create long-term value.
Anadozie explained that CGMA holders are equipped to serve in a range of critical roles, including risk management, financial analysis, strategy consulting, and management accounting. Their skills, he noted, are particularly vital for businesses seeking to scale operations, strengthen governance, and remain competitive in dynamic markets.
The ceremony highlights the growing importance of globally recognised financial expertise in shaping Africa’s private sector and supporting the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). As more professionals in Nigeria attain international qualifications like CGMA, businesses from small startups to large corporations stand to benefit from improved strategic decision-making, financial discipline, and long-term value creation.
