38 Universities & MSMEs Selected to Benefit From Govt. Free Internet Broadband Deployment

38 Universities & MSMEs Selected to Benefit From Govt. Free Internet Broadband Deployment

The Federal Government has unveiled unlimited broadband connections in 20 Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) locations and 18 selected universities as beneficiaries across the 6 political zones in the six geo-political zones of the country.

The Federal Government’s Provision of Broadband Infrastructure for MSMEs and Education Institutions across the country and distribution of ePads was launched recently in Abuja as part of the national policy on fifth generation (5G) networks for Nigeria’s digital economy.

The 20 MSME locations chosen to benefit from the broadband initiative are spread across the country are:

  1. Kantin Kwari Market, Kano, Kano State
  2. Central Market, Lafia, Nasarawa State;
  3. Mandate Market, Ilorin;
  4. Jos Main Market, Jos, Plateau State;
  5. Jimeta Central Market, Yola;
  6. New Market, Gombe;
  7. Monday Market, Maiduguri;
  8. Central Market, Gusau, Zamfara State;
  9. Central Market, Katsina, Katsina State;
  10. Bodija Market, Ibadan, Oyo State;
  11. Oja Oba, Akure, Ondo State;
  12. Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State;
  13. Ariaria International Market, Aba, Abia State;
  14. International Modern Market, Owerri, Imo State;
  15. Main Market, Onitsha, Anambra State
  16. Watt Market, Calabar, Cross River;
  17. Oba Market, Benin, Edo State;
  18. Swali Market, Yenegoa, Bayelsa State;
  19. Wuse Market, Abuja; and
  20. Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos

The 18 beneficiaries of the Broadband initiative for educational institutions are:

  1. University of Lagos
  2. College of Education (Special), Ibadan
  3. Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife
  4. University of Nigeria, Nsukka
  5. Federal University of Technology, Owerri
  6. Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka
  7. University of Calabar
  8. University of Benin
  9. University of Port Harcourt
  10. Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
  11. Bayero University, Kano
  12. University of Abuja
  13. Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University, Katsina
  14. Borno State University
  15. Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi
  16. Gombe State University
  17. Federal University of Technology, Minna
  18. University of Ilorin

The Federal Government is expected to sustain its broadband deployment with N800 billion under the National Communications Backbone project.
