Share

The 9th European Union-Nigeria Business Forum (EUNBF) will bring together Nigerian and European business leaders, policymakers, and institutional stakeholders in Abuja for the first time. Organized by the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, in close collaboration with EU member states and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, this forum aims to explore and identify investment opportunities along specific value chains.

Objectives:

– Foster Engagement: The forum will facilitate interaction between businesses, policymakers, and stakeholders from Nigeria and the EU, promoting economic cooperation and stimulating sustainable growth.

– Promote Trade and Investment: Through networking, discussions, and policy shaping, the forum aims to enhance trade, investment, and partnerships between the EU and Nigeria.

– EU Global Gateway Strategy: EU-funded projects will complement private sector investments, focusing on critical areas of social, economic, and environmental sustainability in Nigeria, particularly harnessing local talent among youth and women.

Keynote Speakers:

– Samuela Isopi: EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, emphasizing the forum’s role in fostering transparent and inclusive engagement with Nigeria’s new administration to strengthen EU-Nigeria partnerships.

– Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite: Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, expressing support for the EU’s efforts to promote economic cooperation and sustainable growth.

Focus Areas:

  1. Digital Sector: Exploring investments in technology and digital infrastructure to boost economic resilience.
  2. Health Sector: Promoting partnerships to enhance healthcare delivery and infrastructure.
  3. Agricultural Sector: Transitioning from agriculture to agribusiness to improve food security and economic sustainability.

Event Format:

– Hybrid Model: The forum will be conducted both in-person and virtually, targeting sectoral associations, business communities, and entrepreneurs.

– Expected Attendance: At least 400 in-person participants, with additional virtual attendees.

– Panel Discussions: Covering topics such as attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), digitalization, healthy economies, and transitioning from agriculture to agribusiness.

Significance:

The EUNBF aims to bring certainty, stability, and sustainability to bilateral trade and investment relations between the EU and Nigeria. It provides a platform for transparent dialogue and collaboration, paving the way for a prosperous future for both parties.

This forum is part of a broader initiative to promote economic, social, and environmental resilience in Nigeria, aligning with the EU’s commitment to sustainable development and the harnessing of local talent.
