Share

In a significant move to foster entrepreneurship and uplift the economic prospects of women and youths in Bayelsa State, the government has successfully disbursed a total of N168 million in grants to 840 small business operators. The initiative, part of the state’s empowerment program, aims to strengthen businesses and encourage self-reliance among the populace.

The beneficiaries, hailing from various sectors, received a generous grant of N200,000 each, empowering them to scale up their ventures and contribute to the economic growth of the state. The Commissioner for Women, Children Affairs, and Empowerment, Mrs. Faith Opuene, emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and providing ample support to budding entrepreneurs.

With a vision to empower individuals across the state, the government ensured an inclusive approach by selecting two male and two female beneficiaries from each of the 105 political wards spread across the eight local government areas. This strategic distribution guarantees a widespread impact on the local economy and enables diverse communities to benefit from the initiative.

Emmanuel Inipanmo, a fish dealer representing the beneficiaries, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the administration of Governor Diri for the invaluable support rendered to small business owners. He acknowledged that this financial boost would undoubtedly fuel growth and pave the way for a brighter future for all the beneficiaries and the state at large.

The grant disbursal event showcased the government’s dedication to empowering MSMEs as key drivers of economic growth and sustainable development in Bayelsa State. By providing these much-needed resources, the government is fostering a conducive environment for entrepreneurship and encouraging the growth of local businesses. This initiative marks a promising stride towards a thriving and resilient economy in the state, as it strengthens the foundation for entrepreneurial success and empowers individuals to take charge of their economic destinies.
