FinLiteCore, a dedicated social enterprise, has taken the lead in equipping women entrepreneurs in Lagos’ Ajegunle community with crucial financial skills, opening doors to business growth and poverty alleviation.
Enitan Kuku-Omonijo, the Executive Director of FinLiteCore, emphasized the potential of women to triumph over poverty when provided with opportunities to harness their entrepreneurial abilities. She underlined that this project holds the power to reshape the trajectory of these women’s lives, creating positive ripple effects for their families and communities.
At its core, this project aspires to forge an inclusive society where entrepreneurs, regardless of gender or background, can readily access avenues for upward economic progress. The dual-pronged approach empowers women with the necessary tools to initiate or expand micro-businesses, granting them financial independence and the promise of a brighter future.
Lizzy Edwards, the Director of Operations, highlighted the significance of FinLiteCore’s comprehensive strategy. She pointed out that global efforts to reduce extreme poverty have faced challenges, especially for women experiencing economic disparities. By prioritizing women in these circumstances, the program offers a clear path to sustainable livelihoods and economic resilience.
The vision of financial empowerment for women in low-income communities is not merely an aspiration, but a tangible reality. FinLiteCore is committed to turning this vision into a tangible transformation, as evidenced by the women in Ajegunle who have directly benefited from this initiative.
Tailored financial training plays a pivotal role in building their financial acumen and confidence, empowering them to make informed decisions—a critical necessity in low-income areas.
Beyond training, FinLiteCore offers grants in the form of productive assets instead of cash. This pragmatic support, comprising equipment, tools, or inventory, removes entry barriers for these women, positioning them for success in establishing sustainable micro-businesses. This form of support is instrumental in helping these aspiring entrepreneurs turn their dreams into tangible achievements.
