The Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio-Ibrahim, has reiterated her ministry’s commitment to collaborating with the World Bank to make positive impacts on Nigerian youths. During a working visit from a delegation of the World Bank West Africa, the minister expressed appreciation for the World Bank’s efforts to equip Nigerian youth with entrepreneurial skills for a better future.

Dr. Jamila Bio-Ibrahim emphasized the importance of synergy and avoiding duplication of efforts in skills development initiatives. She highlighted the significant investment of over 45 million Euros by the European Union in the Jubilee fellowship program, expressing the expectation of tangible results from this investment.

The leader of the World Bank delegation, Tekabe Ayalew Belay, stated that their focus is on youth employment and skills engagement. The delegation aims to review challenges faced by youths in emerging markets and explore ways the government can address these issues. Tekabe Ayalew Belay emphasized the necessity of boosting the skills of Nigerian youth, outlining the collaboration’s objectives to provide a comprehensive report with data-driven insights and foster collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Development.

He further stressed the need for institutional structures to ensure credible impacts, indicating the collaborative effort’s commitment to making a positive difference in youth empowerment in Nigeria.
