CcHUB Nigeria has announced the selection of twelve innovative EdTech startups to join its second cohort of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship. Launched in 2023, this fellowship aims to empower startups driving change in Africa’s education landscape by providing industry support and funding.
The selected startups will receive a range of resources, including technical and advisory support, mentorship, courses on the science of learning, and access to a global network to help scale their impact. The fellowship targets EdTech companies across Africa addressing learning challenges in K-12, tertiary education, vocational training, and out-of-school learning.
Nissi Madu, Managing Partner at CcHUB, expressed enthusiasm about the potential of the selected startups to enhance EdTech in the region and contribute to better education outcomes in Nigeria. The fellowship received a diverse range of applications, showcasing innovative solutions to improve access to quality education and enhance learning outcomes through technology-driven approaches.
The twelve Fellows selected for the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship 2024 cohort at CcHUB include startups such as Topset, Exam Scholars, Data Entry Academy by Accountinghub, Genti Media, Edusko, Harde Business School Limited, Magic Lab Academy, Proud African Roots, Vinsighte Limited, IM Flow, WIFICOMBAT, and Skill Up With Kahdsole (SUWK).
Joseph Nsengimana, Director for the Mastercard Foundation Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning, emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to advancing inclusive growth and driving social impact through innovation. The partnership aims to increase access to quality learning for Nigeria’s and Africa’s underserved learners through home-grown technology-enabled solutions.
Over the next six months, the selected startups will receive business and financial support to scale their solutions, strengthen capacity, build networks and partnerships, and contribute to the future of learning in Africa. They will also receive up to USD $100,000 in equity-free funding and post-program advisory support for up to twelve months.
