The Grand Africa Initiative (GAIN), in collaboration with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), has successfully trained 300 young African entrepreneurs through its 2024 Masterclass on Entrepreneurship and Intra-African Trade. The six-week intensive program focused on building entrepreneurial skills and expanding business opportunities across Africa, especially within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Mr. Chidozie Ezeani, representing Afreximbank, emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting Africa’s youth, calling them the continent’s “most valuable resources.” He noted that the masterclass aimed to provide participants with the tools and insights necessary to capitalize on the opportunities presented by AfCFTA.
Janet Oladapo, GAIN’s Programmes Officer and coordinator of the masterclass, expressed pride in the program’s impact. “We are thrilled to have partnered with Afreximbank again. This year has proven no different, and we’re excited to see how participants apply their newly acquired knowledge,” she said.
Participants from across Africa praised the program for its transformative influence. Nigerian entrepreneur Chioma Echegwisi, CEO of Davichi Farms and Agrotech, described the experience as “knowledge-packed” and expressed optimism about networking and market access opportunities. Monde Thursday Yissah from Malawi shared that the business advisory sessions reshaped his entrepreneurial direction, while Khadar Mowlid from Somalia and Sizolwenkosi Mazolo from Zimbabwe highlighted the program’s immense value for both personal and business growth.
This masterclass is a key part of GAIN and Afreximbank’s efforts to foster economic growth by equipping young African entrepreneurs with the skills, networks, and mentorship needed to thrive in the intra-African trade landscape.
