Ecobank Nigeria is setting its sights on global opportunities for local Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) through its annual fashion, beauty, and lifestyle exhibition, Oja Oge Pop-Up Marketplace. Now in its second year, the three-day event running from April 18 to 20, 2025, brings together top-tier exhibitors to showcase creativity and entrepreneurship in Nigeria’s vibrant fashion ecosystem.
The Head of SME and Partnership at Ecobank Nigeria described the event as a launchpad for fashion creatives to gain wider visibility. Featuring brands like Adidas, House of Tara, Ava and George, Winston Leather, Lush Hair, and more, Oja Oge highlights not only trendy products but also rich ethnic designs and local craftsmanship. This year’s setup, crafted by artisans from Kano using bamboo and raffia, signals a shift toward spotlighting indigeneous artistry.
The bank’s commitment goes beyond exhibition space. Ecobank is working closely with participating SMEs to instill sound business practices, including financial separation between personal and business accounts and the adoption of governance structures. “We’re not just giving them a stage. We’re teaching them how to run a business,” said the SME and Partnership head. “If they succeed, we succeed.”
According to Ecobank’s Head of Corporate Communication, the impact of Oja Oge extends beyond the event itself. Many SMEs receive follow-up orders and visibility that elevate them beyond the domestic market. Through platforms like the Ecobank Single Market Trade Hub, these businesses are also connected to wider continental opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
By championing ethnic designs, building business resilience, and expanding market access, Ecobank is not only nurturing Nigerian SMEs but also pushing to turn them into internationally competitive brands.
