Share

The Enugu State Campus Hackathon is officially underway, offering a groundbreaking opportunity for tech-driven youths to shine. Backed by the Enugu State Government, this innovation program is organized by the Enugu SME Center and the Office of Digital Economy, in partnership with Genesys Tech Hub, The Garage, and Capitis Global Ventures.

According to the organizers, “This is more than just a competition. It’s a state-backed innovation movement designed to awaken and empower the boundless creativity of Enugu’s youth.”

The initiative targets students and alumni from five institutions: University of Nigeria, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Godfrey Okoye University, Coal City University, and Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.

Eligibility Requirements

  •  Eligible participants must be current students or recent graduates enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate, or Pre-NYSC programs.
  • Participants must submit a 12-slide pitch deck and optionally a clickable prototype. Submission deadline is July 16, 2025. Screening and pitching will run from July 16 to July 24. The hackathon officially kicks off on August 2, while the grand finale will be held on September 5 at Genesys Ignite.

Benefits

The hackathon features two major rounds. Round One, called the Campus Rounds, will be held across all five universities. Each campus will reward the top three winning teams: N750,000 for 1st place, N500,000 for 2nd place, and N250,000 for 3rd place. An additional N1.25 million is set aside for a Bonus Innovation Prize Pool, bringing the Round One total to N8.75 million.

Round Two, the Grand Finale, promises a total prize pool of N15 million. The overall winner will receive N7.5 million, including a N2.5 million post-incubation grant. Second place will earn N5 million, while third place takes home N3.5 million.

Top state finalists will also benefit from a 6-month startup incubation, mentorship, and access to the market.
