The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has begun its 2025 nationwide stakeholder engagement tour in Benue State, aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s digital transformation and expanding opportunities for entrepreneurs.
The opening leg of the tour, themed “Creating Opportunities, Breaking Boundaries: Towards Digitalisation and Entrepreneurial Evolution,” gathered participants from government, the private sector, academia, and civil society. Discussions centred on how digital tools, strategic partnerships, and innovation can drive job creation, enhance competitiveness, and spur economic growth—particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Representing NITDA’s Director General, the Deputy Director of IT Infrastructure Solutions, Dr. Lawrence Dirisu, stressed the importance of cross-sector collaboration in building an inclusive, future-ready digital economy. “We must work together to ensure that no part of the country is left behind in the digital evolution,” he said.
The next stop on the tour will be Sokoto State, where stakeholders from Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara will convene under the theme “Collaboration Towards Digitisation and Entrepreneurial Evolution.” This session will bring together members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) to align efforts in promoting digital skills, fostering innovation, and improving the ease of doing business in the technology sector.
NITDA says the engagement series will help shape policies and programmes that empower digital entrepreneurs, build capacity among citizens, and create an enabling environment for tech-driven enterprises to flourish nationwide.
