The Nigeria International Agriculture Expo (NIAEXPO 2025) is set to project Nigeria’s agricultural potential on a global stage, with this year’s edition placing special emphasis on empowering women and youth in agribusiness while creating real opportunities for MSMEs.
Project Coordinator, Abiodun Olaniyi, said the annual event is designed to position Nigeria as a major agricultural player across the value chain upstream, midstream, and downstream while also tackling persistent challenges such as post-harvest losses, low input efficiency, and distribution gaps.
According to him, NIAEXPO 2025 will feature dedicated sessions on livestock, finance, organic farming, and agroecology, alongside a spotlight on underutilized crops such as broccoli, flowers, and moringa.
“It is a platform for inclusion, innovation, and global positioning. It is about building capacity, celebrating our farmers, and giving Nigeria the edge in agriculture as we move toward 2030,” Olaniyi said.
At the heart of this year’s edition is the MSME opportunity. Organisers say the expo will connect smallholder farmers, agripreneurs, and agro-processors with practical support in product registration, branding, packaging, access to finance, and market-entry strategies.
Regional Project Lead, Adekunle Adamson, stressed inclusivity as a central theme, announcing the introduction of a Farmers’ Day to celebrate farmers’ contributions and provide them with training to boost productivity. He also unveiled a Women Entrepreneurship Hub, created to spotlight women in agriculture especially those in rural and subsistence farming offering guidance in marketing, distribution, and scaling.
“In agriculture, women are very critical but have not been spotlighted. This year, we are ensuring they are given visibility, especially those from rural and subsistence farming backgrounds,” Adamson said.
The three-day expo will feature capacity-building sessions, knowledge-sharing forums, and international partnership opportunities. Participation is expected from stakeholders across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, as well as delegates from other African countries.
For MSMEs, NIAEXPO 2025 represents a unique chance to network with investors, access technical support, and showcase innovations in agribusiness, logistics, and digital agriculture.
