The Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce (NSACC) has unveiled plans to empower youth and small- and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) as part of efforts to deepen bilateral trade between both countries.
Speaking at the Chamber’s recent monthly breakfast session, Chairman Ije Jidenma said the organisation is committed to creating opportunities that will drive innovation, digital engagement, and stronger trade ties.
“We have laid a solid foundation over the past 25 years, and our focus now is to elevate our membership, particularly by creating opportunities for SMEs and engaging young people in the digital economy,” Jidenma stated.
NSACC Director Felicia Phillips stressed the role of media in promoting collaboration, noting that informed journalism can help break down misconceptions and foster stronger relations between Nigerians and South Africans.
Immediate past chairman, Osayaba Giwa-Osagie, highlighted that over 40 bilateral agreements already exist between the two countries, but many remain underutilised. He urged the government to ensure its full implementation to deliver tangible benefits for businesses.
The session also encouraged exchange programs for students, professionals, and media practitioners to enhance mutual understanding. Phillips added that direct interaction helps to break stereotypes and build lasting partnerships.
