The Osun State Government has rolled out the Imole Business Empowerment Scheme 1.0, a flagship initiative designed to strengthen small businesses and improve livelihoods across the state. The programme is providing grants, free Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration, and working tools to about 2,000 women and youths.
At the official flag-off ceremony, Governor Ademola Adeleke described the scheme as part of his administration’s long-term plan to reduce unemployment and promote inclusive economic growth through entrepreneurship. He noted that the empowerment initiative reflects his government’s resolve to move beyond promises and deliver tangible support to the people of Osun.
Beneficiaries of the scheme will not only receive financial backing and business tools but will also enjoy free CAC registration to formalise their enterprises. This, according to the government, will give them access to new opportunities, including credit facilities, government contracts, and partnerships with larger companies.
Governor Adeleke explained that supporting women and youths with resources and official recognition would stimulate the local economy, strengthen the informal sector, and create sustainable income streams for families across the state. He added that the programme was deliberately designed to promote financial independence, expand small-scale enterprises, and prepare young people for greater roles in the state’s economic future.
Speaking at the event, Ogungbangbe urged beneficiaries to embrace the opportunities responsibly by growing their businesses diligently and becoming worthy ambassadors of the scheme. He emphasised that the initiative was more than just a grant or a certificate, but a platform for building self-reliance and creating impact in their communities.
The Imole Business Empowerment Scheme is expected to be expanded in subsequent phases, with the government pledging to reach more small business owners across Osun. Officials have also highlighted plans to integrate training, mentorship, and access to markets into the programme to ensure beneficiaries can maximise the support provided.
