Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint, Tosin Eniolorunda, has launched the Future Builders Fund, a scholarship programme aimed at empowering high-potential but under-resourced students across Nigeria in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
According to a statement, the pilot initiative is designed to remove financial and structural barriers that often prevent brilliant students from reaching their full potential, while also contributing to Nigeria’s broader digital economy and innovation drive.
The initiative builds on Eniolorunda’s ongoing investments in education and technology, including a CAD/CAM laboratory worth over N100 million donated to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and sponsorship of projects such as the University of Lagos Entrepreneurship Challenge, the Nigenius Inter-School Robotics Competition, and the NextGen Connect Interschool Oratory Competition—collectively valued at N50 million.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to become the best version of themselves, and socioeconomic barriers should not block the path to mastery and brilliance,” Eniolorunda said. “Through the Future Builders Fund, we aim to identify and nurture the innovators who will shape Nigeria’s future. This initiative combines financial support with mentorship to give students from low-income backgrounds a fighting chance to become transformative change-makers.”
The Future Builders Fund will support 14 students, with two beneficiaries selected from each of seven federal universities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. The participating universities include:Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, University of Calabar, University of Abuja, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, University of Maiduguri and University of Lagos.
Each scholarship recipient will receive tuition assistance, hostel accommodation, a laptop, and a monthly stipend, along with access to mentorship and leadership development programmes tailored to build technical competence and entrepreneurial thinking.
Eligible applicants are 200-level students from the listed universities. Applicants are required to submit their bio-data, academic transcripts, and a personal statement outlining their financial need and career aspirations. Shortlisted candidates will take a standardised aptitude test measuring academic ability, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
The top two candidates from each institution will receive the scholarship, which will be renewed annually based on academic performance and demonstrated growth in leadership or technical skill.
The programme forms part of a five-year pilot initiative that blends financial aid with mentorship, STEM skill-building, and leadership exposure, aiming to accelerate the development of Nigeria’s next generation of innovators, inventors, and entrepreneurs.
Through the Future Builders Fund, Moniepoint is not only investing in education but also building a pipeline of young Nigerians who can lead the country’s digital and technological transformation.
