Stitches Africa, an AI-powered e-commerce platform for bespoke and ready-to-wear African fashion, has launched its mobile application in Lagos to promote African fashion across global markets.
Speaking at the unveiling, Co-founder of Stitches Africa, Franklyn Peters, said the platform connects African designers and tailors with customers worldwide, offering visibility, access to new markets, and the opportunity to showcase authentic African craftsmanship.
He said the innovation particularly targets Africans in the diaspora seeking custom-made traditional wear and designs from homegrown talents.
“Through its AI-driven body measurement technology, customers can now generate accurate digital measurements for perfectly tailored fits from anywhere in the world,” Peters explained.
He added that the platform allows users to shop both bespoke and ready-to-wear designs produced by verified African fashion houses, while also helping designers earn in foreign currencies and access funding opportunities through partnerships.
Stitches Africa also announced a $50 million financing programme to boost market expansion, production financing for merchants, logistics development, and product portfolio growth.
Head of Marketing, Joy Oikeh, said the financing round is being led by JF Advisory Group, with Cedrus Trustees Ltd serving as custodian and transaction trustee. According to her, the investment will help Stitches Africa scale operations across international markets and provide financial and logistical support to designers and entrepreneurs within its ecosystem.
“The funding will also go into developing logistics infrastructure to improve cross-border market access and streamline distribution,” Oikeh said.
Head of Legal, Ntishorkara Monkom, described the initiative as “the future of African fashion commerce, one that empowers creators, strengthens value chains, and connects African creativity to global markets.”
She noted that the funding reflects investor confidence in both the company’s business model and the potential of Africa’s fashion industry.
Under the arrangement, JF Advisory Group will serve as the lead investor, mobilising additional institutional partners, while Cedrus Trustees Ltd will ensure transparency, governance, and compliance in fund management.
