Ojokoro LCDA Launches N100 Million Empowerment Scheme for Residents

Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has empowered 2,500 residents with business grants and unveiled major community projects to mark the first 100 days in office of its chairman, Olalekan Akindipe.

The empowerment program, held at the council secretariat in Lagos, featured the presentation of grants ranging from N50,000 to N500,000 to support small business owners, artisans, and traders in growing their enterprises and improving their livelihoods.

Akindipe said the initiative reflects his administration’s focus on building sustainable economic growth through skills development, entrepreneurship, and inclusive community projects.

“Our first 100 days were about laying foundations; the next phase is about building legacies. Empowering our people means empowering the local economy,” he said.

Beyond financial support, the council commissioned new roads, distributed five 500KVA transformers to communities to boost electricity supply, and provided free GCE forms and scholarships to over 300 students.

Akindipe also announced plans to introduce digital skills programs for young people and a new online platform to improve transparency and access to council services.

APC State Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, commended the council for delivering people-focused initiatives that strengthen grassroots economies and create more opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

The initiative underscores Ajeromi-Ifelodun LCDA’s commitment to empowering MSMEs, supporting innovation, and driving inclusive development across the community.
