Nigeria’s transition to sustainable energy demands bold ideas and policy-driven innovation. The Energy Policy Innovation Challenge (TEPIC) 1.0 invites forward-thinking students to design transformative solutions that can power Enugu State’s clean energy future. If you are passionate about renewable energy, climate policy, and impactful innovation, this competition is your opportunity to lead change.

TEPIC is a premier student-led initiative of the Energy Law Society, University of Nigeria Nsukka (TELS-UNN). It challenges participants to craft actionable, high-impact energy policy proposals addressing real challenges in Nigeria’s renewable energy space. The journey begins with idea development and culminates in a high-stakes final round where top teams defend their proposals before expert judges.

This year’s theme is A Sustainable Energy Policy for Enugu State, focusing on practical, scalable solutions that advance the state’s clean energy agenda.

Benefits
Participants stand a chance to access substantial cash prizes, national recognition, and unique career-advancing opportunities.

  • Top winners will receive ₦450,000, ₦300,000, and ₦200,000, respectively. Outstanding proposals will be published in a reputable journal, offering participants national visibility and potential access to mentorship, internships, and future collaborations within Nigeria’s green energy ecosystem.
  • The challenge also provides an opportunity to refine critical skills in policy writing, energy innovation, research, and professional presentation.

Eligibility Criteria
The challenge is open exclusively to Law undergraduates from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State University of Science and Technology, or Godfrey Okoye University.

  • Each entry must feature four credited co-authors representing Engineering, Business Administration, Environmental Sciences, and Social Sciences.
  • No prior experience in renewable energy is required, but applicants must demonstrate genuine interest in Enugu State’s energy challenges and offer creative, evidence-based proposals.

Supporting Documents
Submissions must include a detailed policy proposal outlining problem insights, solution frameworks, implementation strategies, and projected outcomes.

  • Each participating team must also provide short bios explaining individual contributions, alongside relevant visuals and references that strengthen the proposal’s clarity and credibility.

Application Deadline
All submissions must be received by November 22, 2025.

  • How to Apply
Teams should prepare their complete proposals and send all documents in PDF format to: theenergypolicyinnovchallenge@gmail.com.
  • After submission, applicants are encouraged to join the official community channels on LinkedIn or WhatsApp for updates and final-round preparation.
