Kebbi State Government Empowers Police Families, Widows with Financial and Food Support This Christmas
Share

In a heartfelt festive initiative, the Kebbi State Government, through First Lady Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir, has empowered police families and widows of fallen officers with financial and food support, easing their burdens during the 2025 Christmas season.

Represented by the wife of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hajiya Uwani Usman Ankwai, the First Lady visited the Mobile Police Barracks and the Police Barracks in Birnin Kebbi as part of the state’s Christmas outreach activities.

During the visits, Hajiya Nasare Nasir donated N5 million and 500 bags of rice to the Mobile Police Barracks. Similar support was extended to families at the Police Barracks, offering crucial assistance and reinforcing the government’s commitment to the welfare of law enforcement families.

Addressing beneficiaries, the First Lady described widows of fallen officers as national heroes, acknowledging the sacrifices of their spouses who gave their lives in service to the nation. She emphasised that the welfare of these families remains a top priority for the Kebbi State Government.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CSP Usman Shahu praised the First Lady and the state government for the timely intervention, noting that it would boost morale among serving officers and strengthen the bond between the police and the community.

“The gesture has reinforced the relationship between the police and the state government and will motivate officers to remain dedicated to their duties,” Shahu said.

The Kebbi State Police Command also expressed appreciation for the initiative, reiterating its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state, particularly during the festive season.

This empowerment initiative is part of the state government’s broader effort to support vulnerable groups and ensure that citizens who serve the nation, as well as their families, are recognized and assisted during critical times.
