Call For Applications: Follow The Money (FTM) State Lead Positions Across Nigeria 2026
Share

Follow The Money (FTM), Africa’s largest social accountability movement and a flagship initiative of Connected Development (CODE), is inviting applications for the position of State Lead across all thirty-six (36) states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

FTM is seeking credible, committed, and community-rooted citizens who are passionate about championing transparency, accountability, and people-powered governance at the grassroots level.

This is a voluntary leadership role for individuals driven by civic engagement and social change. Selected State Leads will be expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity and represent Follow The Money with professionalism, credibility, and a strong sense of responsibility.

The role places State Leads at the heart of community action, working closely with citizens to ensure public funds translate into tangible impact.

About Follow The Money

Follow The Money began with a simple but powerful idea: every citizen has the right to know how public funds and taxes are spent.

Over the years, the movement has evolved into a globally recognised, award-winning civic platform that has tracked billions of naira in public spending across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and rural Infrastructure. Through evidence-based advocacy, citizen engagement, and community monitoring, FTM works to ensure government projects reach their intended beneficiaries.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and active citizenship
  • Experience in community organising, social activism, or civil society work
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and public speaking skills
  • Good knowledge of the state’s geography, languages, and social dynamics
  • Ability to remain non-partisan and professional at all times
  • Proficiency in digital tools and social media for advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Mobilisation and Sensitisation: Lead efforts to educate citizens on using budget and project information to demand quality service delivery.
  • Grassroots Monitoring and Tracking: Coordinate on-the-ground monitoring of public projects in sectors such as health, education, and water and sanitation through site visits and community engagement.
  • Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Engage local government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders to promote open governance and inclusive development.
  • Communication and Reporting: Serve as a liaison between communities and the national FTM team by submitting regular reports, data, and human-interest stories.
  • Volunteer Management: Build, motivate, and manage a network of volunteers and community champions within the state.

Benefits

Volunteering as an FTM State Lead offers a unique opportunity for civic impact and personal development, including:

  • Hands-on leadership experience in transparency, accountability, and social advocacy
  • Practical exposure to community monitoring, project tracking, and civic technology tools
  • Access to training sessions, toolkits, and continuous mentorship from the national team
  • Membership in a strong national network of civic actors, journalists, and civil society organisations
  • Opportunities for visibility, recognition, and representation on Follow The Money platforms
  • Certificates of service and performance-based references to support future career opportunities
  • A chance to amplify community voices and strengthen local governance systems
